I'm sorry that I go MIA for such long spaces...my phone is just utter crap and gets no service here. I met someone with my exact phone with full bars, but for some reason Charlene just isn't able to pull it off. Oh well. Internet is kind of a pain as well since I only get it in the SSSAC (the staff activities center) but when too many people get on, the laptop won't log on to it. I also have NO time to actually go to the SSSAC, since I get up at 6:30 every morning and go until 11:00 at night.
Thus far, it hasn't been too exciting here. We do training....sooo much training! This morning we went and listened to some professors talk about New Mexico and ranching/land management/ the history of it all....for 3 hours. Outside. Yikes. That's about the average time that we sit and just listen. My group loves the fact that I have Silly Putty, Play-doh and coloring books on me constantly. It keeps us focused and stops us from going crazy.
We've also done a lot of training with the Wranglers. We learned how to saddle and care for the Burros, and I have no earned the nickname of "Burro Whisperer". :D I'm definitely not complaining. We also learned how to rope......yeah. Not quite as quick as I am with the animals. Is okay though...I can laugh at myself, and I don't pretend to be anything but a city girl. (You guys should see some of the year round staff though....I mean they're the EPITOME of "cowboy". Whoo! :P)
We visited Ponil today to learn how to do a chuck wagon meal. I'm excited...Tara is the other girl in our group and we get along swimmingly! We are rooming off to the side of the Dining hall, and from what I could see through the blinds looks nice. We scatter on Sunday, so I'll have to keep you updated.
Otherwise, life's been good. We did a big hoe-down type thing on Monday, and I'll attach the photos for you. Tell everyone I love them, and I say hi! Also, please forward the emails....I don't have anyone's address except for Aunt Jean.
LOVE YOU GUYS!
Elise
